CEMVO Wales Supports Welsh Assembly’s Programmes for the European Year of Equal Opportunities for All 2007
The European Year of Equal Opportunities for All 2007 is a programme to raise awareness throughout the European Union of people’s rights under anti-discrimination laws. It is about informing all citizens of Wales about their rights and engaging them in the debate around the value of diversity.
Wales will be marking the Year of Equal Opportunities for All by holding a series of events and activities across the country. Activities during the year will be organised under four main themes: rights, representation, recognition and respect. If you have events or programmes planned that you feel could benefit from participation, we are keen to hear from you.
There will be road shows visiting locations across Wales to promote the Year to the general public. Other planned events include a schools competition, and participation in various third sector partner events.
In Wales the Year was formally launched by Jane Hutt AM, Minister for Equalities, at the Senedd on Monday 16 July. Celebrating the Year with the Minister were BBC Wales Today presenter Jason Mohammed and a panel of guests representing a range of equality perspectives.
CEMVO Wales will be carrying out a presentation and workshop around race in the Welsh Assembly on the 25th of October from 12.00 – 2.30 pm. For more details contact shereen.williams@cemvo.org.uk
