HM Revenue & Customs’ Grant-In-Aid to the
Council of Ethnic Minority Voluntary Sector Organisations (CEMVO) for the
Tax Credits National Awareness Raising Campaign 2006 – 2007

The introduction of child tax credit and working tax credit in April 2003 was part of the Government’s aim to provide greater work incentives and lift low-income households out of poverty. The tax credits aim to help halve child poverty and assist 70 per cent of lone parents to get back to work by 2010. The Government is also committed to increasing employment for disabled people. High take-up of tax credits is crucial to ensuring the Government’s aims are realised.

This report follows our successful Tax Credits National Awareness Raising Campaigns to inform the black and minority ethnic communities and other hard to reach groups with the aim of increasing take-up.

HM Revenue & Customs’ Grant-In-Aid to the
Council of Ethnic Minority Voluntary Sector Organisations (CEMVO) for the
Child Trust Fund National Awareness Raising Campaign 2006 – 2007

Set up by the government, every child born on or after 1st September 2002 is eligible for a Child Trust Fund account. Yet, in spite of the Government’s efforts to inform families of the fund and the additional financial assistance that could be claimed from it, many people are unaware of it hence failing to make use of the fund.

This report follows our successful Child Trust Fund National Awareness Raising Campaign to inform black and minority ethnic and other hard to reach groups about their entitlements with the aim of increasing take-up.
