Council of Ethnic Minority Voluntary Sector Organisations

CEMVO Regional Office has established a Pan-London Capacity Building network which is funded by The City Bridge Trust. From 1st August 2007 an out reach worker is facilitating the network. The Networks will actively work to:

• Develop partnerships with statutory and voluntary organisations.
• Give voice and visibility to member organisations on issues affecting them.
• Empower and strengthen member organisations.
• Advocate inclusive strategies within local and central government programmes on issues affecting BME organisations.
• Create opportunities for member organisations to work together, share and exchange information, skills and experience.
• Promote networking, communication and flow of information between the community, voluntary groups and statutory organisations.
• Identify problems in service provision to BME communities and develop programmes which will actively seek to fill these gaps.
• Promote and encourage user involvement in the network
• Create a platform for good practice and experience sharing.
• Fund raise for development worker to assist Network member organisations in securing funding to become independent and maintain sustainability.
• Plan on strategic level to access collective fund raising and relevant training opportunities.
• Encourage the development of an integrated information service in the network through updates, exchange of ideas and practical support.
