CEMVO S E Region had the opportunity to organise a funding event, so that voluntary and community groups would be able to attend to receive potential funding information and network with other groups and funders. CEMVO South East / Raise Funding Conference
The conference aimed at raising the profile of CEMVO in southeast, developing and strengthening further the relationships built over one year period of capacity building work, creating an opportunity for recruiting new groups for the year two of the capacity buildings work commencing July 2005, as a part of our marketing and communications strategy to inform stakeholder partners of our Capacity building work in the region and creating networks and alliances between the funders and BME voluntary sector organisation representatives and exploration of how best the BME VSO can be financially resourced to effectively deliver services. Impact of CEMVO’s Capacity Building Programme Bangladeshi Parents and Carers Association
The ‘Bangladeshi Parents and Carers Association’ (BPCA), which as its name suggests is a specialist in working with people with multiple disabilities. It was formed in July1998. The organisation as it stands today employs 20 people and has 5 committed volunteers, it is moving into the forefront of delivering quality culturally specialist services that meet unmet needs in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. It is the only project working in the borough which provides care for high dependency users. Learn more »
African Children’s Club (ACC)
The ACC aims to promote understanding and awareness of African heritage through informal education and activities. ACC aim to enable young people to develop self-esteem and confidence through the celebration of their identity. The club meets up twice a week to undertake drama workshops, drumming and dancing, story telling, creative writing and song writing. Learn more »
Wrightchoice Community Sports Association (Wrightchoice)
Wrightchoice Community Sports Association (Wrightchoice) has been in existence for one year. The organization was set up to raise the attainment and achievement of disadvantaged children and young people, mainly from BME communities, by providing quality sports training and skills development, and promoting education and healthy living.
