Profile of the Board Members:
Anil Bhanot (Chair)
Anil Bhanot is a Chartered Accountant who runs his own accountacy practice in West London. In his voluntary capacity he has been involved with community work since 1992 and helped built up a national umbrella body Hindu Council UK as its General Secretary from 2003 to 2009. He writes extensively on community issues and contributes to various governmental debates on equality issues, particularly affecting legislation. Anil was elected as Chair of CEMVO in 2009. He is Chair of the British Organisation of Persons of Indian Origin which works for greater political equality and he is also Chair of the Mosaic Community Trust and Patron of the Inter faith youth Trust.

Karam Bhullar (Treasurer)
Karam Bhullar has extensive experience of Regeneration in West London and housing management. He built up a regeneration partnership with BA, NAA, EMI as well as major Asian Businesses in West London which carried out improvement projects including a Young Adult Centre and a Healthy Living Centre. Karam is also Chair of the West London Health and Diversity Group. Karam joined the Board of CEMVO in 2007.
Gerry German (Member)
Gerry German is Director of the Communities Empowerment Network which he started in the year 2000 to provide an advocacy service for the parents of pupils excluded from schools. In the past he has worked as a Principal Education Officer at the Commission for Racial Equality where he was actively involved in implementing the Race Relations Act 1976. He has taught in schools in the UK and overseas. Gerry was also Chair of STOPP (The Society of Teachers Opposed to Physical Punishment) which succeeded in persuading government to abolish corporal punishment in UK schools in 1989. Gerry joined the Board of CEMVO in 2007.
Miriam Tamene (Member)
Miriam Tamene is an economic adviser with Her Majesty's Treasury, and has a strong background in project management. She spent several years working on development issues and also has extensive commercial experience having worked on a number of projects in Africa and Latin America. Before joining the UK Treasury in 2000 she worked directly for the Prime Minister of Ethiopia advising his office on a wide range of economic and finance issues.
Samee Akhtar Mian (Member)
Samee Mian is a General Manager focussed on strategy and development within the not-for-profit sector. An innovative and multi-skilled manager, with a wealth of experience in solution delivery for business issues, Samee is a charismatic team leader, an excellent communicator and an accomplished strategic planner with a successful track record of developing and delivering new initiatives. Samee's achievements include delivering a 1.3 million project to support BME SMEs through advice and training, developing and implementing the Newham Chamber of Commerce's membership Strategy, and developing and launching the Asian Dreams programme to support Asian Fashion designers.
Vinod Kumar Khanna(Member)
Vinod Kumar has been involved with CEMVO since 2003 when he was appointed to the Advisory Board of the National Capacity Building Programme. He is CEO of Inspire Community Trust and has previously worked as Head of Physical Disability with Bexley Council. He was also involved in setting up and negotiating with Bexley Council regarding the setting up of an independent organisation responsible for the provision of integrated physical and sensory impairment services.
